A Fresh Start

It took you long enough to get here, Spring!  

Easter weekend was very productive at Earth & Sky!  Family and friends gathered and helped prepare for our spring opening on April 4th.  And now, here it is, April 4th and it is a glorious and sunny day!  As the season goes on, we'll have more annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, and bushes to choose from, as well as plenty of gifts inside.  It was a long strange winter, so we're ready to get out there and get planting!

Something is missing...

It's Closer Than You Think!

Chilly mornings mean summer is almost over.  I've seen the Halloween decorations already in the stores and so you know it's time to start thinking about your fall decor.  I found this fall decorating project and thought I'd share...they are called Mumkins.  A combination of mums and pumpkins and I think they are so pretty!  You can choose a solid color or mix and match your favorites to create a beautiful centerpiece, or some decorations for your front steps.  Cut the mums to leave about 2 - 3 inches of stem and drill small holes in the pumpkin with an awl spaced about 1/2 inch apart all over the pumpkin.  Insert the mum stems into the holes.  The moisture from the pumpkin should keep your mums looking fresh for about 3-4 days.  If this sounds like too much work, you can also create vases out of pumpkins for your mums.  Cut out the top, scoop out the innards, and set a piece of foam or plastic inside to raise the mum up to so it sits beautifully on display.  Of course, it's so convenient that mums and pumpkins will both be on sale at Earth and Sky Garden Center this fall...keep checking in here for updates on our fall arrivals!
